The Building Process/Buyer's Experience

"We were little apprehensive, to say the least, about building a new home. Our first experience (with another builder) was not a good one, and we were convinced that building a home in general would be a big headache, no matter which builder we used. We were especially nervous about approaching construction companies with our own custom plans, rather than picking from a book of pre-drawn plans. Thank goodness we stumbled across Patterson Construction. From the very first time we spoke to the sales agent to the very last meeting with James Patterson, every member of the Patterson staff adopted a "Whatever it takes to make you happy" mentality. There were several instances where we met with our architect and Patterson, just to make sure everyone was on the same page. Without exception, every expectation from our architect (and us) was met. At one point in the construction process, we were concerned about the water table being too high for the basement. To set our minds at ease, James Patterson halted construction and rushed us a copy of the actual soil study done on our lot by an independent company. We were also concerned that we would be dealing with sub-contractors not being on the job in a timely manner, and setting the whole project back, not to mention subs that did not have quality workmanship as a priority. It was nice to see that without exception, every sub-contractor was on site when they were scheduled to be, and their workmanship was outstanding. In fact, from the day that the foundation was poured, the building schedule was on track to the day. We were able to close on our target date with absolutely no problems. It was experiences like this (and many, many others) that made the building process enjoyable for us. We could not be happier with our new custom home.

Architectural Aspect of the Building Process

"Recently, my brother and his wife had their home built by Patterson Construction. I designed the home and was curious to see how the plans would be followed by this contractor. Often in residential construction, the working drawings are used to construct the foundation system and in the framing of the home then tossed in the back of the truck, leaving the details of the building to be worked out by sub-contractors and material suppliers. Because of my interest in my brother's home, I followed the project closely, visiting the site often and checking Patterson Construction's work against the plans. I was pleasantly surprised to see that overall, the plans were precisely followed. The end result is a beautiful home that fully meets my expectations and those of my brother.
